Pupils at the pre-prep in Madingley were delighted this morning to find a live pony in their School Hall. The 12-year-old Hawkeye (named because he has one brown and one blue eye) was brought in by one of our parents, Dr Nicky Holdstock from the Cambridge Veterinary School.

In small groups, the children learnt a lot about the treatment of animals when they are sick. They used a stethoscope to see if they could detect Hawkeye’s heart murmur (something that makes him a great teaching patient at the Veterinary School), tried a hoof pick and bandaged his legs.
