Our early years Forest School helps to create resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. Here is the weekly rundown of what our pupils have been doing in Forest School.

Following a bustling start due to the crowds visiting Sestriere for the Alpine Skiing World Cup on the 10 and11 December 2022, the students settled into a week of quiet ski pistes, great snow, challenging lessons and delicious food.

Our pupils have had a busy week at Forest School taking full advantage of our beautiful surroundings. Here is a rundown of what they have been doing:

On Wednesday 18 January a group of drama scholars and GCSE and A Level students went to see the touring production of ‘The Lavender Hill Mob’ at The Arts Theatre, Cambridge.

Our Sixth Form Historians from Year 12 and Year 13 came together to spend a virtual day at the History in Action conference focusing on Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany. 

Returning to the school for a second time, Steve Carden (a parent of a previous student and current Year 10 student) came to discuss his career journey to date, and explain to students what life as a business consultant is like.

It’s been great to get out and about again on some Art trips with Year 7 going to the Botanic Gardens and Year 8 on a walk around Cambridge.  A lovely reminder of how lucky we are to have such wonderful visual resources on our doorstep!

Year 7 are basing their project this year on Natural Forms with a photography trip to the beautiful Botanic Gardens to inspire their work. A thoroughly enjoyable trip which resulted in some fantastic photographs!  The trip went far too quickly with quotes such as “this is the best art lesson ever” and “I wish we could stay all day”.

Year 8’s project is based on structures within architecture with a walk around our beautiful city to photograph buildings. From the strong rhythmic brick buttresses and finer stone columns of the facade of the Cambridge Judge Business School to the ornate late perpendicular gothic architecture of King's College, there is an abundance of inspiration!
